At some point you have to learn to play your damn instrument.
Amateurs cannot self assess their skills.

Until your body fails you, you can keep on improving.
There is no substitute for being reliable, knowledgeable, and easy to get along with.
Talent is real.
Charisma is as real as talent, but much rarer.
