A quiet week ahead with 4 scheduled events.
New software this week installed. I used band in the box years ago. It will be a great addition to my studio again. Hands down more musical than the iReal Pro app.
Wednesday: Big band drum audition
Thursday: Piano trio jam with Tim and Rory, I'm on piano.
Friday: Drum lesson day and a consult and celebration/commiseration as the case may be with Terry Clarke.
As always, practice, practice, practice.
Sunday: Playing drums with my students at their winter recital.
Holidays are over
It was an inspiring week in New York City. Chris Potter, Alvin Ailey, and Sir Simon Rattle. Now back to the practice room.
Fade/Dissolve is an improvised music project consisting of Gordon Way (percussion and loops), David Story (synthesizer and percussion), and William Davison (prepared guitar and amplified objects). Based in Toronto, Canada, the group creates improvised, experimental "soundtracks" to imagined films using a variety of electronic and electroacoustic sound sources. These soundtracks are later paired with abstract video fragments to create surreal and expressionistic ambient music videos.
Gordon Way makes digital images and films, plays drums, designs expressionist sound loops and compositions. Because otherwise he would go mad.
David Story, synthesist and drummer. Making great noise since 1974 when in the family basement his mad scientist comrade brought over a clarinet and a paper bag with two wires with protruding alligator clips: one for the horn, the other for the amp.
William Davison is the founder of Recordism. Unfortunately, neither he nor anyone else knows what that is.

Good bye to the decade. The most tumultuous of my life. Started in grief, morphed to relief and ended in Joy.
Bring on the new decade.
