Big band playing. What a hoot. Two hours of sightreading big band standards including Fly Me to the Moon. Sign me up for more of that. 

A quiet week ahead. Practicing, lots of practicing. Piano and drums. 

1. Snare drum exercises
2. 10 trad jazz tunes to learn and chart out. Nola is coming up soon.
   
3. Double bass drum etudes. My first public outing last week with them was so exciting. I'm sold on the whole idea. 
   
4. Royal Conservatory of Music piano repertoire. The only way I know to keep the hands alive, regardless of what I plan to play. 
   

1. Monday, recording session with my musical pals Gordan and William. Double drum sets, and electronics. It is the final recording session before we edit the project and start shooting video
2. Wednesday, trio session. Jazz standards and fellowship with Rory and Jim. Below is a video of Jim's son Miles Finlayson with his super group. 
3. Thursday, jazz jam on Annette, best jazz hang in town.
4. Friday, drum lesson with Terry Clarke.
5.  Saturday, piano performance with dance at Array music studios. 

What a week.

Wow! Was he excited. Started messing with the controls, eyes as wide a saucers. His proud dad stood back beaming. Cool.

Monday: recording session with my buddy Rory Slater. I'm on piano, he is on bass, we'll be swingin'.
Thursday: Jazz jam on piano, then jazz jam on drums if I still have energy.
Friday: New Orleans drum workout with drummer Lowell Whitty. Our annual tune up in preparation for the New Orleans workshop this summer. Funky fun.

One highlight this week is setting up my electronic music studio for some synth madness. 

Upcoming is more composition for my jazz and blues students. Custom music is the way to go.
