A lazy weekend. Now stretching, exercising and resting. I need to be in shape for the upcoming week.

Wednesday, the trio with my good friends Jim and Rory. I'm really looking forward to trying out the swing ideas from my coach. Namely, modifying the swing pattern with an accent on beats 2 and 4. Keeping the tempo from dragging was an issue.
Thursday, Annette jam.
Friday, Improv trio with Gordon and William. Bring out the synths.
Sunday, New Orleans trio with Harry Forbes and his son Zak. Harry and I have know each other for 47 years.
Final touches on the fall teaching schedule, with light teaching duties this final week of summer.

Week of August 18th

New recording project this fall of original music. Three of us have each composed a bunch of tunes. We each put forth 2 and record the 6 of them shortly.
Preparing for fall teaching. Another sold out year ahead for me. Yeah!
Drum transcriptions are piling up. It's fun to play along with the recordings. And, it has really opened up my ears to new modern sounds: Drake and Marshmello meets 60 year old jazz drummer. What could possibly go wrong? ;-)
Rest this weekend.

Sunday: A fun rehearshal with the Toronto Improvisors Orchestra. Hauling out the drum kit and off to the Tranzac Club. Next show is September 29th at Array Space Toronto.
Wednesday: Original jam with a quartet, everyone is bringing a piece. And drum coaching with Lowell.
Ongoing:

Royal Conservatory of Music. I'm busy this week working on professional development to requalify for my "certified teacher qualifications"

Week of August 5th

Video, video, video week. I've learned to work a video editor and sync music. Yeah.
Tuesday I meet with Ed Patterson and hear his jazz guitar looping. I'm intrigued. Possibly more on this later.
Wednesday Jazz trio and lunch with the guys. My buddies Rory Slater and Jim Finlayson. I'm looking forward to sharing my new skills from the NOLA workshop with them.
Thursday night is standards night: 1st on the piano with Tim Gofine. 2nd drumming at the Annette Jam.
I will be studying this week RCM curriculum for teachers to renew my membership.
Daily piano practice is paying off. Hands feel great.
Drumming highlight will be some coaching with Lowell Whitty. He really pushes hard.
